Beginning Protection Training at 11 Months of Age
Nogi is a beautiful, black and red female with very good structure and simply outstanding temperament. She is a very calm and affectionate female with a high level of trainability, excelling in both obedience and tracking. She is very protective and does not, and never will, view Schutzhund protection as a game, ( see video above). She is very much like the dogs I started with over 30 years ago. This is not a mistake, as her pedigree consists of all of those dogs and others famous for the same strength of character, working ability and nerves.
I have trained and titled, (and worked/trained dogs in this pedigree as the SchH helper), as far back as the 9th generation. There is only one other breeder in this country who is as familiar with the dogs they are breeding as I am with this bloodline. That person is Phyllis at Rancho Rhein German Shepherds. There is a reason I have held onto these bloodlines. I can certainly afford to buy titled dogs from Europe but those dogs simply do not compare to what I have in these dogs and these lines. These are German Shepherds as they were intended to be, not dogs that will chase anything and only view protection and SchH work as a game. These dogs mean business but have the ability to differentiate between a threat and someone who means no harm. This is what German Shepherds were supposed to be and dogs like Nogi, (and the rest of her litter mates), are what I will always be trying to produce as a breeder of German Shepherd dogs. This entire litter is excelling in Tracking, SAR, obedience and SchH training. They are simply naturals at everything they try and are showing the same versatility that the German Shepherd breed was once famous for. These dogs are just EASY to train and make even novice handlers feel like old pros.
All of the dogs in this litter are very protective but also dogs that are very compliant and always listening for the handler's commands. One pup from this litter is working in SAR, one in Agility and AKC obedience and tracking, and the others are in SchH and living as loyal family companions/protectors. I am exceptionally proud of this litter due to the outstanding temperament and real German Shepherd traits these pups are displaying and all of them are simply beautiful dogs to look at. Preliminary x-rays for hips and elbows look excellent. Nogi will continue this bloodline in the future. I am planning to breed her to Ikon in late 2011 or 2012.
